ERT45R is the programmable electronic core of a modular system for testing electronically controlled diesel injection pumps. It is designed to work with a suitable diesel pump test bench rather than replace it: the bench provides mechanical drive and fuel-flow measurement, while ERT45R provides the electronic control, feedback management and application-specific operating logic.
Keep the test bench. Add the electronic capability.
ERT45R separates the electronic control layer from the mechanical and measurement functions already available on the bench.
This allows a suitable conventional diesel test bench to remain the foundation of the test system. The exact ancillary equipment required depends on the pump technology and on what is already available on the bench.
The test bench provides

Electronic actuation, sensor feedback, synchronization where required, application logic and operator control.

The control strategy follows the pump technology
ERT45R does not force different pump technologies into one control method. It provides the appropriate control strategy while keeping a common operating platform.
Closed-loop position control
Where the application provides actuator-position feedback, ERT45R controls the actuator against the required position setpoint and displays the corresponding operating information to the technician.
Closed-loop pressure control
ERT45R can regulate the pressure-control valve using pressure-sensor feedback so that the required rail-pressure setpoint is maintained during the test.

Different applications, a common operating environment
The pump changes. The technician does not have to start again with a completely different controller.
Across supported applications, the operator works with the same ERT45R hardware interface: graphic display, logic keys, programmable function keys and smartcard reader. Application-specific software adapts the functions and operating sequence to the selected pump family.
This common environment helps a workshop build capability across different technologies without multiplying unrelated control systems and operating conventions.

The control-unit investment remains in place as new pump applications are added.
A workshop can configure ERT45R around today's workload and later add further Operational Kits and the required ancillary equipment for other pump technologies.
The objective is not to purchase every possible application at the beginning, but to create a control platform that can grow with the workshop.
Smartcard architecture: secure, replaceable and flexible
The smartcard is the application key — not the application investment.
ERT45R uses established smartcard technology rather than magnetic storage, so the card is not subject to magnetic demagnetization. Each application card is programmed for the ERT45R unit or units for which it is authorized and cannot simply be used on an unrelated control unit.
If a smartcard is damaged or lost, the complete programming kit does not need to be purchased again. When the original purchase can be documented by the kit invoice, a replacement card for the same application can be issued for the ERT45R serial number associated with that purchase.
Workshops operating two ERT45R units
For more structured workshops, application smartcards can be authorized for both ERT45R control units. The same application investment can therefore be used on either workstation, providing greater operational flexibility and redundancy without purchasing a second complete set of programming kits.
More than pump control: add measurement and phasing capabilities
ERT45R can be extended not only to control additional pump families, but also to perform additional measurement and synchronization functions on the test bench.
This means that part of the investment can remain useful beyond electronically controlled pumps: dedicated accessories can turn the ERT45R control unit into a measurement instrument for other diesel-pump testing operations.
Advance-piston travel measurement
The universal advance sensor adds electronic measurement of the linear travel of the pump timing piston directly through the ERT45R platform.
Dedicated adapters extend this measurement capability across different rotary-pump families, including VE, DPA, DPC, DPS, DP210, Zexel, Denso and Stanadyne applications.
Importantly, the pump does not need to be electronically controlled. ERT45R can therefore also be used as an electronic advance-travel reader on suitable conventional pump applications.
Continuous flow measurement for Common Rail pumps
FL400 extends a Common Rail configuration with continuous fuel-flow measurement while ERT45R manages the electronic pump operation and pressure-control strategy.
Together with the required high-pressure hydraulic circuit, accumulator and pressure-control equipment, it helps complete the measurement layer needed for Common Rail pump testing.
Digital Pump Phasing System
Provides the electronic angular reference required for testing digitally controlled pumps whose actuation must be synchronized with pump-shaft position.
Angular resolution: 0.01°. Documented applications include Bosch VP44/VR30, Delphi DP210/EPIC and Denso ECD-V3/V4/V5.
Application-specific integration kits complete the pump-side coupling and mounting arrangement. The standard system is designed around a 125 mm test-bench shaft centre height, with adapters available for other configurations.

ERT45R is designed so that expanding test capability does not automatically mean replacing the control platform or duplicating previous application investments.

Reliable Electronic Components
Internal electronic functions are enabled or disabled according to the active application so that the same hardware platform can serve different control strategies.
Protection does not replace a correct electrical check
ERT45R incorporates protection against prolonged electrical overload of the connected actuator circuits.
If an overload exceeds the permitted time, the output is automatically interrupted to protect the control electronics. Even with this protection, the electrical resistance of the actuator circuits should be checked before connection to the control unit.
The DETEQ OTA interface (81.21.090) was developed to facilitate these preliminary electrical checks.
A complete configuration depends on the application
The ERT45R control unit is the common core. A working setup also requires the appropriate application kit and, where necessary, synchronization, hydraulic, pressure-control and measurement equipment.
