On Friday, January 23, 2026, Roberto Gandini, Chairman of the Board and founder of InjectionPower, passed away at the age of 79.

With this page, we wish to remember him not only for the role he held, but for the person he was and for the human and professional legacy he leaves behind.

A Life Dedicated to Work and Engineering

Roberto Gandini’s professional journey spans more than forty years and crosses some of the most significant phases in the technological evolution of diesel injection systems.

His career began in 1962 as an apprentice at Officine Meccaniche Odolini Catullo. From the very beginning, he stood out for his technical skills, curiosity and innovative mindset, contributing to a pioneering modernization of diesel injection pump test benches and electrical testing equipment for vehicles.

In 1968, he acquired the company, relocated it to Quinzano d’Oglio and led it for over twenty years. During this period, he designed and developed solutions applied in the automotive, naval, railway and industrial sectors, as well as equipment for mobile workshops used in major international construction projects, both in Italy and abroad.

From the mid-1970s onward, he introduced significant innovations in diesel injector testing and calibration processes, contributing to substantial improvements in quality, reliability and efficiency. His technical expertise was also shared through publications in the ANSID technical journal (Associazione Nazionale Specialisti Iniezione Diesel – Italian Association of Diesel Injection Specialists), reflecting his commitment to knowledge dissemination.

Over the years, he obtained numerous Italian and international patents, including one for the world’s first diesel injection pump test bench equipped with an electronic measurement system, recognized and filed in several countries. His inventive capability also led to advanced solutions for civil and military applications, some of which received NATO codification.

Following the sale of the company in 1987 and the completion of a non-compete period, he founded Deteq in 1990. In this phase, he was the first to introduce the concept of modularity in test systems, developing a universal simulator for the calibration of electronically controlled diesel injection pumps.

In the following years, anticipating the evolution of Common Rail technology, he designed and built innovative machines for testing electronic injectors, achieving high levels of precision and reliability. In 2004, the project expanded further with the acquisition of Marbed, initiating an integration process that led, in 2021, to the creation of InjectionPower, resulting from the merger of Deteq and Marbed.

InjectionPower thus represents the synthesis of a life entirely dedicated to work, engineering and innovation, built over time with consistency, expertise and vision.

International Experience and Human Relationships

Throughout his career, Roberto Gandini traveled across all five continents, personally overseeing commercial missions, installations and training activities. He never viewed work as something distant or delegated. He was present on site, often accompanied by his collaborators, with whom he shared responsibility, knowledge and team spirit.

His approach was always deeply human. His ability to create empathy and connect with different cultures left lasting and genuine memories wherever he went. The energy and warmth of his laughter, capable of filling any space, remain among the most vivid memories for those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Family

As a husband, father and grandfather, family was always the foundation of his life. By his side for over fifty years of marriage, Giulia (Giuliana) was a constant presence and a fundamental support, not only within the family but also throughout his entrepreneurial journey and during the most challenging moments of his life.

Father of Massimiliano, Attilio and Stefania, he passed on values of responsibility, dedication to work and respect for people to each of them.

Stefania pursued her own professional path following a thoughtful and shared decision, while remaining fully part of the family and its shared values.

Together with Massimiliano, he co-founded Deteq and shared a significant part of the company’s entrepreneurial history. Today, Massimiliano continues to lead the company, ensuring continuity and fidelity to the values passed down.

The loss of Attilio, young and already involved in the entrepreneurial project, marked a moment of profound difficulty that deeply affected the family and the entire community surrounding the company.

Our Values and Responsibility

InjectionPower is a family-owned company. In recent monthes, faced with situations requiring care and respect, we consciously chose to protect the individual first, maintaining discretion regarding his private sphere.

We are aware that this choice may not have made certain dynamics immediately clear externally. Today, we trust that customers, partners and collaborators can understand the reasons behind it, recognizing that respect for the Person came before that of the entrepreneur.

Looking Ahead

The values he passed on do not end with his passing. They continue to guide the present and future of the company.

Moving forward without him will not be easy, but it is a responsibility we fully embrace: to continue along the path he traced, to keep the flag flying high, and to honor his legacy every day through our work and our decisions.

We sincerely thank all those who, with respect and discretion, are expressing their closeness during this time.
