01 An Injector Can Spray. But What Does That Tell You?
An injector can spray fuel and still fail to perform as it should.
What does a visible spray prove?
It proves that fuel was injected under the conditions of that particular check. It does not tell you whether the right amount was delivered, whether the injection happened at the right moment, or whether the same result would occur again.
Those differences matter when a workshop must decide whether an injector can be returned to service.
A better question
Instead of asking only “Does it spray?”, ask “What do I really need to know about this injector?” Sometimes a simple observation is enough. When a repair decision depends on actual performance, it may not be.
Key point: Seeing an injection is not the same as understanding injector performance.
