Roller-to-Roller Measuring Tool for Diesel Injection Pump Hydraulic Heads CAV 7144-262

MARBED 9565 is a hydraulic service tool designed for measuring and setting the roller-to-roller dimension on diesel injection pump hydraulic heads.

The tool is connected to two diametrically opposite high-pressure outlets of the hydraulic head by means of its two flexible pipes and banjo fittings. The inlet is connected to a nozzle testing unit (pop tester), which is used to pressurise the hydraulic head during the adjustment procedure.

When pressure is applied, the pumping plungers and rollers are forced outwards to their maximum position. The overall roller-to-roller dimension can then be measured with a micrometer and adjusted according to the specifications given in the relevant pump test data.

The central assembly incorporates a pressure relief valve to protect the hydraulic head and the measuring equipment against excessive test pressure. Historical CAV service documentation describes this tool as CAV 7144-262 and specifies a 30 atm pressure limit for the procedures shown.
