Calibrating nozzles (test nozzles) simulate the behavior of engine injectors only for bench testing, serving as flow gauges to set and verify fuel-injection pumps under standardized conditions. ISO 7440-1 and ISO 14681 define the assemblies (with single-hole orifice plate or with delay pintle nozzle) and their use on the bench; ISO 4010 defines the delay-pintle calibrating nozzle itself. ISO 4008-3 provides the application and test procedures and a mandatory maintenance schedule for test injectors.

Operational Notes
- Select the exact nozzle code specified in the pump maker’s test schedule (Bosch, Delphi, etc.). Manufacturer must specify nozzle type, orifice size (if used), high-pressure pipes and limits.
- Maintain per ISO 4008-3 Annex B; keep log of pumps tested and follow the mandatory maintenance schedule for calibrating injectors.

Are these engine nozzles?
No. They are test/bench reference components; do not install on engines.
Who sets the opening pressure?
The spring stack in the holder does; the nozzle doesn’t “carry” a pressure value.
When should I replace a calibrating nozzle or plate?
Follow ISO 4008-3 Annex B maintenance; keep usage logs and replace when out of tolerance or per maker’s instructions.
