ERT45R APPLICATION KIT · 81.01.1042
Turn an existing professional diesel test bench into a Denso ECD-V3 / V4 test platform
The 81.01.1042 Programming Kit gives the ERT45R the application-specific control functions required to operate, test and diagnose Denso ECD-V3 and ECD-V4 electronic rotary pumps.
V3 and V4 use the same ERT45R programming kit. The workshop retains the mechanical drive and hydraulic measurement capability of its existing test bench; ERT45R adds the electronic control and monitoring layer required by these pumps.
What the 81.01.1042 kit includes
Programming smartcard
Enables the ERT45R functions required for Denso ECD-V3 / V4 operation and testing.
2 m base cable
Provides the common connection layer between the ERT45R and the application-specific pump cables.
Pump adapter cables
Connect the ERT45R directly to the relevant Denso pump sensors and actuators.
Illustrated operating manual
Step-by-step documentation for connection, setup and operation of the application.
Reference test data may be supplied separately where available. Availability depends on the individual Denso pump reference and must not be assumed to cover every ECD-V application.
WHAT ERT45R ACTUALLY CONTROLS AND MONITORS
More than simply energising the pump
A Denso ECD-V pump requires coordinated electronic control referenced to pump position. The ERT45R V3/V4 application provides the control and observation functions needed to evaluate the real pump response on the test bench.
SPV control — T1 / T2 / T3 / T4
ERT45R manages the Solenoid Spill Valve using the four control parameters required by the application, rather than reducing the test to a simple on/off or generic pulse command.
TCV and timing control
The Timing Control Valve is commanded as part of the advance-control system. Commanding the TCV alone is not the same as verifying the resulting mechanical advance.
Transfer pressure
Transfer pressure can be included in the diagnostic picture instead of evaluating delivery values in isolation.
Single / double injection and cylinder-related diagnosis
The application supports the operating modes required to observe pump response, delivery behaviour and faults under the relevant ECD-V test conditions.
ANGULAR REFERENCE IS PART OF THE TEST METHOD
Digital phasing and real advance measurement
For ECD-V3 / V4, pump position is not an accessory detail. It is part of the control strategy.
The complete test configuration uses the 81.01.1A01 Digital Pump Phasing System with the 81.01.1A42 V3/V4 integration kit. The 1A01 provides an electronic angular reference with 0.01° resolution, while 1A42 provides the Denso V3/V4 pump-side integration and transfer-pressure fittings.
1. Establish the pump reference
The pump is mechanically phased to a known angular position before timing-related measurements are interpreted.
2. Acquire Zero Advance
ERT45R establishes the zero-advance reference used as the baseline for subsequent timing evaluation.
3. Measure the actual advance
The resulting advance can be evaluated in angular degrees instead of assuming that a TCV command produced the expected mechanical movement.
How the complete V3 / V4 configuration fits together
81.01.080B + 81.01.1042
ERT45R control unit plus the V3/V4 programming kit provide the electronic application layer.
81.01.1A01 + 81.01.1A42
Universal digital angular-reference equipment plus the Denso-specific V3/V4 integration kit.
Pump mounting and optional measurement equipment
Depending on the pump and bench, additional mounting elements such as the 9478-V4 and optional electronic advance measurement using 81.01.1001 + 81.07.3030 may be used.
TEST DATA: AN IMPORTANT DISTINCTION
Hardware capability and reference test data are not the same thing
ERT45R provides the control and measurement architecture needed to operate and evaluate V3/V4 pumps. Calibration reference data are a separate information layer.
InjectionPower has access to original Denso V4 test specifications for a number of pump references, but coverage is not universal. Available reference data may therefore be supplied separately where the corresponding pump data are available.
DENSO V4 ROM
Testing the pump does not mean programming the pump ROM
Denso ECD-V4 pumps use a compensation-data ROM fitted to the pump. ROM reading, writing, copying or repair is part of the original Denso calibration ecosystem and is not a function of the ERT45R V3/V4 application.
ERT45R focuses on the bench work required to control the SPV and TCV correctly, reference the pump angular position, measure timing and transfer pressure, evaluate delivery and diagnose the actual hydraulic and electronic response of the pump.
V3 and V4 now. V5 and other applications later.
The 81.01.1042 gives one ERT45R control unit both Denso ECD-V3 and ECD-V4 capability. ECD-V5 is a separate application, but it can be added later on the same ERT45R platform instead of replacing the central control unit.
This modular architecture is part of the Total Cost of Ownership advantage of ERT45R: the workshop retains the control platform and expands application capability as its workload changes.
DENSO ECD-V TECHNICAL & INVESTMENT GUIDES
Three questions worth answering before choosing the test solution
What does a real V3/V4 test capability cost?
Compare the three practical routes to acquiring ECD-V test capability and understand what each route actually includes.
Why is a basic electronic controller not enough?
Understand the difference between simply commanding the pump and creating a test architecture able to reference position and evaluate real pump response.
What about official Denso test data?
Separate control capability from calibration-data availability and understand the practical alternatives when official data are not commercially obtainable.
